July Update

The Oak Run Quilt Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 12:30PM to 3:00PM at the Island Club. This month we will meet on the 6th and 20th. All residents of Oak Run are welcome to join the Quilt Club. We now have over 40 members.

As is our custom in all our meetings, our July meetings will each have a short business meeting followed by show and tell.

At out last meeting, in June, we had a lively and fun time while members put blocks together into a quilt top. The quilt blocks were sewn by members over the last few months. Several members cut the blocks to matching sizes and organized the blocks on a design wall. The blocks were then brought to meeting where members sewed the blocks into a quilt top.

We will continue with the border, quilting, and binding as the year progresses. Orphan blocks will be made into pillows and totes. The finished quilt, totes, and pillows will be sold in November at the Oak Run Arts and Crafts Fair. Proceeds from the projects will augment the Quilt Club Treasury.

On July 6th, the Block of the month project will continue with beginner and advanced copies for participating members.

The summer months are quiet with some of our members going north during the heat. So July is a time to bring your projects to work on while you chat with other members and browse our library for future ideas.

Join the Quilt Club and enjoy the benefits of camaraderie, learning from other quilters, as well as the benefits of an extensive library of quilt books to browse and borrow.
