November Update

The Oak Run Quilt Club is open to all Oak Run Residents. If you are a quilter or would like to learn to quilt, please join us.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. In November we meet on 2nd and the 16th of the month. Location: The Island Club from 12:30PM to 3:00PM.

October Update

The Oak Run Quilt Club is open to all Oak Run Residents. Here are our activities for October. If you are a quilter or would like to learn to quilt, please join us.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. This month we meet on October 5 and October 19 at the Island Club from 12:30PM to 3:00PM.

The following is a summary of our October Meetings.

October 5 Meeting
  • Business meeting
  • Show & Tell
  • Discussion: Holiday Luncheon
  • Fat Quarter Drawing: Bring a FQ of your choice if you wish to participate in the quarterly drawing.
  • Due: Bring in any items you have made for the club to sell at the craft fair. Items will be priced and tagged.
  • Sign Up Sheets: Color class on 11-3; volunteers for Craft Fair on 11-4; 2018 project ideas
  • 2018 Club Officers. Note: Terry, Louise, Annette and Patti are willing to continue their roles for the 2018 year unless there is an objection. Volunteers to help with projects throughout the next year will be very much appreciated!
Activities
  • BOM (led by Pat Cicogna)
  • Puff Quilt project (led by Janet Sutphen) - see info below
  • Information on how to best cut fabric (DVD provided by Ursula Harris)

October 19 Meeting
  • Completion of puff quilt
  • Finalize December luncheon plans
  • If you are unable to attend the October 5 meeting, bring in your items for the Craft Fair to be priced and tagged.

Puff Quilt Project - October 5: (led by Janet Sutphen)

Materials for Puff Quilt:
  • Straight pins from club closet or if you are interested in making one for yourself, bring your own pins.
  • Sewing machine with white thread.
  • Material squares from closet or if you are making one for yourself, bring at least 10, 5-1/2 inch squares of various scrap material you have at home.
  • If anyone has muslin for the back of the squares, it can be cut into 4-1/2 inch squares.

We will make a bed runner for the bottom of the bed to be sold at the Craft Fair.
